How license upgrades work
License upgrades raise BIG-IP platform performance in place, without swapping hardware, and the upgrade takes on the service level of the host product. F5’s rSeries platform offers considerable performance improvements, investment protection and flexibility over its predecessors, at the same price point.
F5 does not officially post prices online. Every customer’s needs are different, including trade-ins, promotions and special discounts that may apply. Do not rely on F5 pricing you find online. It is not maintained by F5, can be out of date, and does not account for your situation.

BIG-IP license upgrades can be used to upgrade BIG-IP platform performance (“On-Demand” or “Pay-As-You-Grow”).
When adding a license upgrade to a BIG-IP product, services must be added. The license takes on the service level of the host product. Service cost for the license upgrade is calculated as a percentage of product starting price, the same as with hardware platforms.
