With the release of the BIG-IP iSeries® appliances, F5 is announcing the End of Sale (EoS) of the BIG-IP 2000, 4000, 5000, 7000, and 10000 series platforms effective April 1st, 2018. Note that the replacement iSeries appliances do not support the BIG-IP Application Acceleration Manager™ (AAM®) software module, which F5 is designating EoS as well. F5 is providing advanced product notification to customers and partners, announcing the intent to retire the products listed in the following table:

Below you will find F5 definitions on “End Of” terms. Understanding F5s policy on End Of Life & Support and how it works is important. It’s often needed when you are in a tough spot looking for support on your old legacy F5 hardware. - End of Sale (EoS) – F5 stops selling this product, software version, or platform.

- End of New Software Support (EoNSS) – A platform’s EoNSS date indicates that new software versions produced after this EoNSS date will not run optimally on the platform due to hardware constraints or minimum system requirements, as listed in product release notes. F5 stops testing whether new software versions produced after this EoNSS date will run properly on platforms designated EoNSS. Unless specifically communicated differently by F5, the EoNSS default date is two years after the platform’s EoS.

- End of Software Development (EoSD) – Applicable to both platforms and software releases, Platform EoSD is the date that F5 Product Development has ceased considering the repair/maintenance of confirmed software/firmware defects for the designated platform. Unless specifically communicated differently by F5, a platform’s EoSD date defaults to three years after EoS.Unless specifically communicated differently by F5, a software release’s EoSD date defaults to three years after the release’s first customer ship, or two years after the release’s first customer ship for x.x.0 releases.

- End of Support Contract Renewal (EoSCR) – F5 will no longer renew support contracts on a platform after this date. Unless specifically communicated differently by F5, a platform’s EoSCR date defaults to six years after EoS.

- End of Technical Support (EoTS) – F5 will no longer accept technical support calls once all the EoTS dates have been passed for the platform, product, and software version. Unless specifically communicated differently by F5, the following EoTS dates apply:

- Platform EoTS: Seven years after its EoS date
- Software EoTS: One year after the release enters its EoSD period

- End of Technical Support (EoTS) – F5 will no longer accept technical support calls once all the EoTS dates have been passed for the platform, product, and software version. Unless specifically communicated differently by F5, the following EoTS dates apply:
F5 will offer customer access to software updates on a reasonable best effort basis to address remote security vulnerabilities for related software releases until the EoTS date.
- End of Return to Manufacturing (EoRMA) – F5 will no longer accept or replace platform or component returns. Unless specifically communicated differently by F5, the following EoRMA dates apply:Platform EoRMA: Seven years after EoS date
